Teachers display new Headway English books, Bredjing Camp, Chad

Teachers of the English classes in Bredjing Refugee Camp, Chad receive brand new Headway books from the Book Wish Foundation's first shipment of aid. The teachers are themselves refugees, and many are also students, learning more advanced English to keep pace with their pupils. The Headway course includes special teachers' books that will help them be more effective guides on what is called the "road to freedom" — learning English.

This shipment of 269 books was made possible through generous donations from the public, the publisher, Oxford University Press, and Air France. With discounts from Oxford, we can purchase Headway books at cost, meaning every dollar you donate is worth nearly seven dollars. Please donate to allow us to send more Headway books to the many hundreds of Darfur refugees trying to learn English in the Bredjing and Treguine camps.

The colorful shirts the teachers are wearing show the logos of Book Wish Foundation, our on-the-ground partner CORD, and Oxford University Press. Promotional imprinting specialists EverythingBags.com provided the shirts at a tremendous volume discount, and helped us to get them in time for the shipment (shirts funded by a private donation). This is another way we are letting the refugees know that we believe in their ability to achieve their educational dreams.
