CORD
CORD is a faith-based UK Registered Charity (No. 1070684) with a 42-year history of providing humanitarian aid to people affected by violent conflict. Their mission of “conflict transformation” involves much more than handouts — they provide devastated communities with sustainable means to earn their own livelihoods, and establish and operate educational facilities in partnership with local and international organizations. CORD’s support comes from a broad base of individuals, schools, companies, trusts, churches, the British government, the European Union, and the United Nations.
We are partnering with CORD staff in Eastern Chad who run educational programs in three refugee camps (Bredjing, Treguine, and Gaga) and 18 nearby Chadian villages, supporting the reading-related needs of these communities. CORD’s experience on the ground, contacts with locals, and track record of success make them an ideal partner for us. By donating to the Book Wish Foundation, you have an opportunity to make a direct, targeted impact on lives affected by the Darfur crisis, guided by CORD’s expertise.
