Volunteer Opportunities

Here's how you can volunteer to help Book Wish Foundation, especially our project benefiting Darfur refugees and villagers in Chad.

As specific volunteer opportunities become available, we will announce them here and on our mailing list. Please subscribe to the mailing list to stay updated.

You can also help a lot by telling others about our Library Builder campaign at bookwish.org/library-builder. For just $2, anyone can donate a brick to help build a refugee camp library. Please spread the word!

We are seeking additional board members to help us meet increasing requests for aid. You can apply online.

We currently need or anticipate needing help from volunteers with skills in the following areas:

• visual arts (painting, drawing, ...)
• graphic design
• videography (YouTube masters)
• publicity
• legal
• translation from English to other languages
• fundraising

If you have any matching skills, please tell us. If relevant, please include a link to your portfolio or website. We would also like to hear from you, if you have personal connections with:

• corporate public relations or charitable giving officers
• publishing company executives
• booksellers
• groups of hobbyists or enthusiasts, who might like to organize an event related to their interest to benefit reading relief
• media personalities
• celebrities who might be interested in reading relief

If you would like to help us with skills or through connections not mentioned here, please do tell us, but keep in mind that we might not be able to utilize your help, yet. We do not want to waste our volunteers' time, and will only ask for your help if we think it will make a significant difference.

At the minimum, you can help us right now by:

• Buying all your books through bibliotarian.org, and encouraging your friends to do so, too. This is our new fast book price comparison service that finds you the lowest prices on Amazon, AbeBooks, Alibris, Half, etc., and gives us a commission.
• following us on Twitter, becoming a fan on Facebook, or friending us at MySpace
• telling your friends about Book Wish
• using the Share button below to add us to social bookmarking or news sites, like Stumbleupon, del.icio.us, or Digg
• donating part of your eBay sales to us, or donating an item for us to sell on eBay
